
Maynard has been training dogs professionally for over 18 years. He is founder, decoy instructor and training director for Cavalier Canine. Maynard is also an AKC`S canine good citizen evaluator. Maynard has attended numerous seminars ranging from competition Schutzhund obedience to Police K-9 law, and is a member of Schutzhund U.S.A. and Protection Sports Association.
Maynard has been employed with the Virginia Beach Police Department since May 1994 and was employed by the Virginia Beach Sheriffs office form January 1990 to May 1994. He is a Master Police Officer, a Field Training Officer, a DARE Instructor, AVB Instructor, Mandt Instructor and a certified Crime Scene Officer. Maynard has attended numerous seminars and schools during his law enforcement career ranging from gang prevention, firearms training, officer survival, building searches, force on force, crowd management riot training, investigating child abuse training and non violent crisis intervention.
Maynard is currently working with Friends of Virginia Beach Animal Control by instructing the volunteers on various dog related topics including aggression, how to perform personality test on shelter dogs and behavior modification techniques. Maynard also raced jet skis professional from 1995 to 1998 placing 3rd in 1996 and 3rd in 1997 at the IJSBA World Championships in Lake Havasu Arizona. Maynard was also the IJSBA Region 8 watercross tour champion and hi points champion in 1996. Maynard brings this extensive and successful competitive nature to the Cavalier Canine Competition Team as the Training Director.
